Chapter 5 - To advance (2)

Getting out of the square once the barriers were down, I started speaking to the npc's to accumulate delivery quests for the next town over to double my gains along the way. Getting into the fields of monsters, I started to gain the aggro of all wolves in the fields and herd them together in order to reduce their area of movement and prevent being surrounded.

I became extremely focused, pulling out my blade, I began cutting them down, from all sides. Taking a step back to avoid the gaping maw of the monster, I followed with a quick thrust to its mouth and gained a critical hit thus beginning the dance.

Jumping in the air and swinging my sword in a full circle motion reaping more exp. Apply complex footwork motion to prevent myself from being marked and pinned down. I kept diving into their midst and using their partners as obstacles.

Slash here, a quick draw there and a stab when free enough. it became almost monotone and droll until he got the routine down. By the end of it all I had a new skill called( Crescent slash).  It was a type of skill that targets the critical point of the enemy and once it hits there's a 15% chance of having a critical hit.  

I began going from one wild zone to another filled with different kinds of monsters From wolves to boars, horned rabbits to large Vipers. Clearing large swaths of monsters till the field became barren while steadily making my way towards the next town.

 When the sun began to set I decided to set up camp in one of the fields that I cleared up during the day. Since {Sao} is a virtual reality game, there is barely any need for bathing because your avatar always stays clean so I decided to make dinner and go over today's events now that I had time to relax seeing as I was ahead of the average player level. Taking into account the events of today he felt that everything was not as it seemed and kayaba had something else in store.

The reason for trapping all players in this death game couldn't just be for intervening in it and playing God. I knew some people had delusions of grandeur but I  haven't had the misfortune of meeting them so far. Putting that aside I decided to focus on what I  could do in this situation rather than thinking about problems out of my own hands. 

Taking stock of the situation right now, I  found it a little bit mellow and overwhelming at the same time. It was hard to describe it, but this feeling is something new, something almost tangible i felt like I could almost touch it. For the first time in a while in a really long time I felt that this might be the feeling of joy or excitement, but I decided to bury those feelings as fast as as they came and focusing on stronger.

"I can think about such sophistry later, right now the goal is to get Stronger" I said out loud.

 Thinking about some individuals I spotted in the square and how they also reacted differently than others, he began to wonder whether it would be wiser to go alone as a solo player or try to form a group. Due to the pros and cons for both choices, and as he has always been a loner he decided to let his nature choose for him and decided to go alone. looking at the game interface he checked his level.

Happy with my progress so far, I prepared dinner for myself, ate it and went to rest to prepare for another day of exploring.

(3rd person pov)

Going to bed, the dark haired young man had no idea that a change had begun to form in him. He usually would have paid no attention to others or even giving them credit for being above average. But he did so twice today without even realizing it. Mikey may be smart but he isn't supernatural. He may see other's intentions but he doesn't know how to respond to them. This may be his one chance to actually experience life and be part of it instead of going through it. Before he could sleep off, he heard a loud shout of a young man. It sounded like the war cry of a soldier at his last legs. Springing up immediately, he discerned the direction it came from and immediately sprints towards it.

/Scene change/

A young man with red hair, eyes and height of about 155cm was in a situation that could be called perilous.

He was surrounded by 4 monsters, wolves and Vipers alike. His HP approaching the red limit. Thinking back on the current situation he began to regret doing something so stupid due to his own arrogance.
