Fire outbreak

I was quite asleep but I suddenly heard the crackling of a fire and then next I perceived the smell of something burning. I slowly opened my eyes and then freaked out when I realized my room was on fire right round and the fire was slowly getting to me. The entire room was on fire except for my bed but it'd take just a few minutes for the fire to get to me.

I screamed on top of my voice for help. I was scared before I noticed something strange. My room was on fire but nothing was burning. Realizing I may not get burned, without a second thought I ran through the fire towards the door then out of the room. I quickly ran into a maid whom I startled.

"Are you alright princess Nardin?" She asked.

"No I'm not alright, my room is on fire and no one cares? I've been screaming." I yelled.

"On fire?" The maid said and quickly looked into the room through the open door but the fire had stopped already. "My princess there is no fire." She said.

"What? I'm sure there was a fire right now." I said walking into the room.

"My princess, you may be right." The maid suddenly said.

"Why?"

"Your arm. It's burnt." She said pointing at my burnt arm which I hadn't even noticed.

I quickly ran to Queen Charlotte in the king's chambers that night. I pounded on the door before she finally opened up.

"What is it at this time, Nardin?" She asked.

"Queen Charlotte I think it's time you let me know what the hell is going on here." I said.

"What are you talking about Nardin."

"My room was on fire just a few moments ago and Liam doesn't seem to be coming back."

"On fire? Oh, lights. Has it been..."

"It just stopped. Without putting out the fire it stopped. How?" I asked.

"Nardin are you sure about this? Did someone else see the fire?" She asked.

"No, just me. It was just me who saw the fire but then how can you explain this." I said showing her my burnt arm.

She looked shocked at first but suddenly seemed calm and collected. "Nardin, I'm sure Irene forgot to put off the candles and so you got..."

"Don't even try to put this on Irene, your majesty. Irene has never left my room without blowing out the candles." I said.

Queen Charlotte sighed, "people make mistakes Nardin, and making mistakes start in just a day so do not vouch for anyone."

"Queen Charlotte please, I'm Liam's wife and so you can tell me anything, you know that. I have the right to know what is going on in my husband's life don't you think?." I tried to convince her to open up as she seemed to be hiding a lot.

"I'll get someone to attend to your wound right now my dear." She responded and walked away.

I sighed and sat down on the bed next to the king "do you even have an idea of whatever is going on in your kingdom?" I asked the king who I knew would not hear me or respond. "Liam, where are you?"

After a short while, Queen Charlotte returned with a maid who helped take care of my wound, and that night, I stayed with Queen Charlotte and King Albert till dawn the next day.

In the morning the next day, I woke up to noises coming from my room with Liam. I looked around and couldn't see queen Charlotte and so I realized the familiar voice I heard was hers. I slowly approached the room to listen to what they were discussing. She was with that same guard or rather knight from earlier. The one who seemed to know her secret about prince Liam.

"So what could have caused a fire? There's no sign that there was a fire outbreak here last night." Queen Charlotte said.

"Do you really believe princess Nardin saw a fire?" The knight, Marco asked.

"Yes. For some reason, I believe she did." Queen Charlotte responded.

"Then it's the work of magic. How did she get away?" He asked.

"I don't know, I didn't ask her. She had a burn on her arm." She said.

"Just her arm?"

"Yes, I think. I didn't want to give her a chance to ask questions." She said then sighed again. "Marco, do you suspect anyone?"

"I do your majesty but then...." His eyes suddenly land on me "Good morning princess Nardin." He greeted to make the Queen aware of my presence.

I smiled sheepishly and responded "good morning."

Queen Charlotte turned around to see me. "Nardin? For how long have you been at that door?" She asked quickly.

"Long enough to realize there is something more to that fire. Something you're not telling me." I responded.

"Marco leave us." Queen Charlotte instructed and Marco bowed and left.

"So, out with it your majesty." I said.

"Nardin I'm not hiding things from you. See every powerful kingdom has several enemies and I'm sure that one of those enemies must have caused that fire to scare you." She said.

"All in one night. The king is lying there close to his death, Prince Liam suddenly has disappeared, and then a fire outbreak? All in just a night? Why was it me they wanted to scare anyway? Why wasn't the fire somewhere else, why was it in my room?" I questioned Queen Charlotte like she would have all the answers.

"My dear, I'll make sure no harm comes to you, and as for prince Liam? I'm sure he'll be back soon. He has gone to fix this problem trust me."

"No, he hasn't. If he has that fire...." I was still speaking when Marco came back and interrupted us.

"I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation your majesty but Zed insists on seeing you right now or something will go wrong." He said with seriousness in his face and voice.

"Is the king alright?" She asked.

"Yes, I think the emergency is far-fetched from the King's ailment." Marco responded.

"The throne is not ablaze, is it?"

"Nothing of a sort has happened your majesty."

"Okay Uhmm, Princess Nardin please can we have this conversation some other time?" Queen Charlotte asked politely.

"Of course your majesty." I responded before she kissed my forehead and left.

"Let's go, Marco."

Well if the king is alright and the throne is not ablaze then... What could be the emergency?
