Lara Carter, eighteen years old, was forced to sign a marriage contract at the age of sixteen to Scott Miller, a.k.a Blade, the person she feared, by her grandfather. After signing the contract, she runs away from home.

I went to my room after I checked all the traps, and made sure that all of them were secure. I'm so angry at Scott right now. How could he decide things for me without asking me first?  He always does, he always decides for me. I'm fine with it as long as no one gets hurt. But this, his men almost died, and if that happens, I'll carry that in my conscience because they died because of me.


I went inside the bathroom and took a bath to calm myself. I wrapped a towel around my body after I was done, but was startled to see Scott sitting on the edge of my bed when I opened the bathroom door.  I ignored him and took my clothes to change in my closet before I went back inside the bathroom and wore my clothes.


He was still there watching me when I came back. I continue to ignore him, then blow dry my hair.


"I'm sorry." He said, now standing behind me after  I turned off the hairdryer. I ignored him brushing my hair.
