"Why do the main character's parents often get the short end of the stick?"
That is what Mila asked while looking up at the sky. She was grumbling toward whoever sent her inside the novel she read before she died.
She becomes the mother of the main character, whose parents are both dead. Mila's character was merely a tool for the MC's character development.
It's a simple, fix-all solution. The author wanted to make the audience instantly sympathetic towards the main character, and the best thing he did was to have the MC's parents die.

After she avoided her death in the original plot, death flags kept coming for her. 

Will the original plot not end if she's not dead?

Main character's parents must die

Mila could hear the loud pounding of the barrier but chose to ignore it. It's her only chance to talk to the strange being without anyone bothering her.

Robert, who was left outside the barrier, desperately slammed his body against the barrier to break it. He was not curious about whatever the two would be talking about, but he was more concerned about the chance of Mila getting away again.

"He really is hard-headed." Mila commented, thinking that she would not be surprised anymore if Robert's head was the one slamming on the barrier. She then shook her head to refocus and looked down at the strange being with hostility still up, "What do you mean I am not the original?"

The strange being smiled with her response, "You are not from this world. You transmigrated into the novel you had read in your world and were trying hard to escape."

"I am the plot hole. You know!"
