The people of Soleil considered love and marriage to be two significant but distinct aspects of life. 

Marriage was a more practical affair for the vast majority of people. It incorporated the expectations of families and communities, not merely the aspirations of two individuals, as the basic building element of society. 

On the other hand, love is viewed as a powerful spiritual and sexual force, yet it is the last aspect considered when entering into a marriage. 

They also view marriage as having little to do with love. Most people believed that the perfect love of the poets or the romance writers could not exist alongside the everyday concerns of marriage.
