"Why do the main character's parents often get the short end of the stick?"
That is what Mila asked while looking up at the sky. She was grumbling toward whoever sent her inside the novel she read before she died.
She becomes the mother of the main character, whose parents are both dead. Mila's character was merely a tool for the MC's character development.
It's a simple, fix-all solution. The author wanted to make the audience instantly sympathetic towards the main character, and the best thing he did was to have the MC's parents die.

After she avoided her death in the original plot, death flags kept coming for her. 

Will the original plot not end if she's not dead?

Main character's parents must die

Mila could tell right away that her body had changed as her vision became clearer and her field of view became higher.

Although Ethel had two eyes while Mila only had one, Mila could still see better with her superior vision.

To check what happened, she looked into the window shield of the car she passed by and discovered that she was back with her Amazonian, one-eyed body.

"Why do I feel ominous about this?" She mumbled.

It's great that she's back to her body as Mila as it is much more helpful for her situation that she will need more physical strength. However, she feels iffy about the reason why she has to return.

She then looked around to find Greyson. She thought Greyson would be waiting for her return to where she left, like what she did at first, but now he was nowhere to be found.

"What the fuck is wrong with him? Do I need to walk back to his unit?"

"I can be Ethel."
