"Why do the main character's parents often get the short end of the stick?"
That is what Mila asked while looking up at the sky. She was grumbling toward whoever sent her inside the novel she read before she died.
She becomes the mother of the main character, whose parents are both dead. Mila's character was merely a tool for the MC's character development.
It's a simple, fix-all solution. The author wanted to make the audience instantly sympathetic towards the main character, and the best thing he did was to have the MC's parents die.

After she avoided her death in the original plot, death flags kept coming for her. 

Will the original plot not end if she's not dead?

Main character's parents must die

One afternoon, in the living room, a couple were playing with a mountain of stuffed toys.

It was the toys that Christopher stole from the room meant for Luther.

Mila failed at knowing her family's likes and dislikes as she was not aware that the children she didn't expect to play with it would love it and the child she brought it for hated it.

"Is it okay to get these cute fluffy toys from that room? What if the duchess scolds us?"

"Don't worry. She won't get angry. And Luther rejected this. She needs to thank us for not wasting her money on this." Christopher excitedly shared.

He literally emptied Luther's room and transferred all the toys to his room. He loves cute and fluffy toys and also something with mechanical toys, like a moving train, and he wished to play with Ginalou, who likes the same taste in toys.
