Second Chance

"Leave me alone, my Dear," said Puspa Ajeng when Evan was about to turn on the water from the sink faucet to wash the dishes.

"No need, Mom. Besides, aren't you guys going home? You should be ready so Daddy doesn't wait too long." Thus replied Evan without looking at Puspa Ajeng.

"Stevan ..." called Puspa Ajeng softly, immediately making Evan snort like before. Then, he turned off the water faucet that had just been turned on to wash the dishes.

"Why?"

"Excuse your Daddy's attitude, okay?"

"Hmmm … you don't need to apologize for him, Mom," Evan replied briefly with a flat face and no smile.

"I'm sorry, Stevan." Puspa Ajeng again apologized. This time, her voice sounded quivering as she tried to restrain herself from crying.

"This is the first time I've heard you apologize to me. Never mind, Mom …." Evan said in a calm voice but full of deep disappointment.
