Chapter 19- I Love Her.

"Come let's eat." he waved me over, setting the tray on the bed before walking towards the tall windows. When he drew back the curtains, sunlight rushed in and the view of the city from below made everything perfect.

No! Actually it was his presence that made everything perfect. Even if we were into a windowless basement, his presence would make it better.

Though I knew he is engaged and soon to be married, Though I know it very well that he sees only a friend in me, I couldn't help but give in to him. Falling for him is so easy. Love is the best thing in this world but only if it is from both the sides. One sided love is the most painful thing in this world.  It will pierce your heart every single second until it is dead.

"I thought you will be gobbling over it in a second but it feels like you are no more interested in it." Alex flicked his fingers in front of me, I shook my head and faked a smile.

"Nothing like that." I replied before clearing my mind and concentrating on the tray placed in front of me. There was a tray of deformed pancakes, butter and syrup on the side, a bowl of fresh strawberries, a steaming cup of coffee and a glass of orange juice. And a rose lying on the side. I stared at the tray for a while, with my heart floating giddily around my ribs.

It was enough, I couldn't resist now. Grabbing a knife and fork, I dig into the delicious treat. It felt like I was hungry since a decade. The plate was emptied in a couple of seconds.

After gulping the last sip of juice, I placed it on the tray. MY eyes flickered on Alex, whose existence was forgotten by me as I munched on the food.

"I-I am sorry, I finished it all. I didn't even offered you." I admitted sheepishly, "I don't know why but I didn't realized how hungry I was until I smell your pancakes. I had missed them so much."

He shook his hand before bending closer to me and wiping the syrup from the corner of my lower lip with his thumb.

"Seeing you eat whole heartedly makes me full."

The blush on my cheek was prominent as I felt a strong wave of electricity passing through my waves. How will I overcome the effect he have on me. How?

Just then I felt a pair of eyes on us. I felt like someone was on the door but as I glanced at the spot, there was no one. My intuition says that something bad is going to happen. It feels like my happiness is soon going to be ruined forever.

"Sasha!" Alex raised a brow with a question mark on his face.

"I felt someone is at the door." he turned to have a look before griping my shoulder and consoling me, "No one is here Sasha. You are hallucinating. In fact, there was no one on the road yesterday."

"No Alex! He was there yesterday. I saw his car and those black orbs."

"Sasha! I checked the whole town and he is nowhere near. Maybe the rain triggered your memory and you remembered the past. I talked to the doctor and he thinks the same. He says it's very common to hallucinate in these kinds of cases."

"But Aex!"

"Baby." he cupped my cheeks and said, "He is far away from you. I understand you are scared, but don't you trust me?"

"I trust you Alex. In fact I only trust you."

"Then have faith in me. I will never let him come near you. Okay?"

I smiled at him. Trying believe what he said. Telling myself that it is just my fear that is in front of me.

Alex's POV

"Mom Please." I cried holding her palm, "I can't do this anymore."

"Please Alex, don't do this to me." My mother begged as her wrinkles intensified around her eyes.

"Mom, please you don't do this to me. Like always this time also, I won't go against you, But mom please try to understand your son. I will marry Daisy for your sake but after this marriage, I won't be the same anymore. You don't know how much this engagement affected me, I had gone in dilemma, I was completely lost and it felt like my soul was dead, it was only my body that was breathing. I can't see my happiness with Daisy mom. " I looked at hr with pleading eyes, literally begging him for my life, "I had always loved Sasha, she had always been in my heart. No one can replace her space in my life."

I saw her pushing my hands aside and walking towards the balcony, stealing gazes from me. "Do you really think, that girl can fit in our frame? in our family?"

I let out a light chuckle as my heart filled with emotions as I was entering the past, "Do you remember when I was 6 years old? I had nothing to fit in this family? I too didn't belonged to this royal fields, this lavish life and especially your loving hands, but it was your love, your warming embrace that hugged me and gave this orphan a title that is no less than a prince. You called me your son and trained me to fit in this family." She turned towards me, her eyes wide as saucers, "I was just a poor son of your maid, wasn't I? But after my parents' tragic death, you never pushed me away, instead you embraced me, you held my hand and helped to rise on the position, I am standing on today.  You didn't saw my status at that time mom, then why are you being judgmental now. Give her a chance mom, I am sure with your love, she will adapt to your world, faster than be, better than me."

I saw tears glistening in her eyes. She pressed her fingers on her temples and said, "Samantha was more like a sister to me. She was by my side when my own husband left me. The day when William left me just because I can't give him a baby was the end of my life. I tried each and everything to have a baby, but the doctors said I was infertile. I even tried for a surrogacy but he said, if his child will be born from someone else then he don't need me. That day I lost all faith in love. People are with you just because they need anything."

I hugged him tightly, as she sobbed in my chest.

"Samantha gave me strength to gather my splattered emotions and be independent. And you brought happiness in our lives. I returned back to my dad and though Samantha was a maid in Williams house, she left her job for me and came with me, she always supported me."

She looked at me and sobbed, "I am sorry Alex, you lost your mother because of me, I was supposed to be in the car, I was supposed to go and buy medicines for dad, but instead your father and Samantha went, handing you to me. She told me to take care of you until she return, but she never returned back. Only if I would have-" her sons filled the room as I caressed her back soothing her. I could feel tears threatening my eyes but I held it back.

Yes! I had always missed my parent's, but I am also grateful for Mother Rosé to adopt me, if she wouldn't have held my hand, I would have been rotting on the streets or in an orphan.

That is the reason I had always presented myself to her. I gave up on my friends, my old little school, so that I could fit in her image, I always tried my best to stand up on her expectations so that she don't feel like she did a mistake, adopting me. And yes, I said yes for this engagement just for her.
