Chapter 5

Patrick' pov

Looking into Kolten's pure and poor, aghast face, I gently touched his head and comforted him.

All of a sudden the boy was told that he was the son of two men and shoulders the future of the clan, the boy must have been in a panic and found it hard to accept.

I tucked him under my arms.

"Alpha, do I really have to do this?" he asked in a shaky voice.

I pondered for a while.

For the first time in my life, I felt myself so selfish that I didn't even want him to go on a trip to find a mate under the clan's rules. I thought that Elvis and I could protect him for the rest of our lives. But as the alpha and priest of the Inferno Wolf Clan, we can't do that.

"I'm so sorry Kolten, as a Prince of the Inferno Wolf Clan, and also as a future Alpha, you have to take the responsibility to find your mate and have a baby."

I buried his head in the back of my arm.

As for the Frost Wolf Clan...

I suddenly remembered the paranoid teenager Andrew, the former alpha of Frost Wolf Clan. Everyone said he was cold blooded, ruthless, tyrannical and toxic, although he was a prince of the alpha, but he was not as favored as the other sons of the alpha, by his father, perhaps he was the least favored prince of the Frost Wolf Clan, and after his father died , he quickly married Kristen Scott, the female general who adored him at the time, the daughter of Jeremy Scott, a Beta who held the military power of the Frost Wolf Clan, and thanks to the marriage, he managed to become the Alpha of the Frost Wolf Clan in a short time.

After ascending to the throne, in just 3 years under his rule, both of his brothers who were an Alpha and a Beta died one after the other. Shortly after the birth of his second son, Kristen died from a sudden illness. After that, Andrew naturally seized the power over Kristen's men and became the strongest force of the pack and thus became the only ruler of the Frost Wolves, right therein that he revealed his true nature.

He waged war after war with other packs everywhere ,and treated the prisoners without any mercy, all the prisoners disappeared suddenly, no one was seen alive, not even a body was found.

Everyone said he burned them to ashes and dumped their ashes into the sea. Others say he had them devoured by the tiger who starved for at least a year. He was so cold-blooded.

Since then the Frost Wolves became the public enemy of the other tribes. However, since the royal family and the priests of the clan mastered the forbidden dark arts, other clans except the Inferno Wolf Clan tried to avoid frontal conflicts with them. Until one day, Andrew died due to an accident while practicing the forbidden dark magic arts, the Frost Wolf Clan changed then and gradually turned to the dark side.

That was the most common version of the story. Though I am convinced that there was something strange about the story, knowing that the Andrew I knew wasn't that kind of a person. Although he was a bit paranoid, he never was as vicious and belligerent as others claimed.

The Frost Wolves and the Inferno Wolves were once allies. I, Elvis and Andrew were even close friends when we were young.

There was a time that the clans were in constant conflict, but the powerful sword master Lion didn’t participate in the war between the clans and always remained neutral.

Although Lion was an Alpha, he believed that an Alpha was not superior, in his eyes Alpha, Beta and Omega are the same, and there is no difference between them. And that is the reason why he is deeply loved by all people from all packs.

Royal families from different clans wanted to win him over, so they all sent people to learn swordplay from him. The Inferno Wolves sent me and Elvis over, while the Frost Wolves sent the only most unpopular prince at the time, Andrew. My father and the previous Alpha did this because they really wanted us to learn the art of sword fighting, and had no intention of pulling Lion in. But it was said that Andrew was sent by his father, Henry, the alpha of the Frost Wolves, as an outcast ,Henry was worried that if the Frost Wolves didn't send someone, Lion would feel dishonored and hold a grudge against the their clan, so he sent his least favorite son Andrew to learn from the master. In case someone used Andrew to threaten the Frost Wolves, he didn't care about his life at all, instead he would rather let him die. Therefore, Andrew was in a very awkward situation at that time.
