“Oh my God mother, stop it would you!” Sam spun around and snapped at the old lady.

She shuffled backwards and pressed herself face first into the corner of the glass cage. When Sam finally turned to face me, I couldn’t help but ask,

“You have your mother in a cage?”

He sighed and rolled his eyes in a defeated way.

“Please don’t judge me, Freya. Just leave it, you have no idea what she’s done.”

“But she’s your mother, Sam!” I couldn’t help but snap at him.

“Freya, leave it, please. I can’t deal with your judgment or disgust. Let’s just find what scent you’re looking for, then you can be on your way,” he replied, not even bothering to look at me.
