Chapter 17: Wicked Witchcraft

MAD MADAM MALADIA'S POV

Mad Madam Maladia considered herself the greatest witch ever to live. She came from a long line of witches, the first of which was Harriet T. Stagnata herself, inventor of the flying broom.

Maladia's ancestors had recorded all their secrets in a tome bound with frog leather, a monumental book which was perhaps the greatest store of knowledge the world had ever seen.

Harriet T. Stagnata had prophesied that so much wealth would come to one of her descendants that she would beg for the gold to stop, but only if that descendant worked hard at the sinister business of being a witch all her life.

Maladia had always known this prophecy must refer to her. Her mother had said Maladia held far greater magical potential than anyone else in their family, after all. Throughout her life, she practiced spells and curses, eagerly awaiting the wealth to come.

Decades passed.
