Memories of her riding camp days came racing back as Vesta walked into the large animal building. Rycer and Gritcha came with her and spoke to the outerworld animal handlers.
“Those are cows,” Vesta pointed, then wrote the word in the sand at their feet. “Those are cows too…those little guys are goats…goats. Uh, yeah…watch out.”
One of the caretakers went flying as a goat dropped his head and charged.
Through gestures, writing in sand, and lots of patience. Vesta had labeled most of the animals inside the domed structure. Her translator was working overtime, and thank goodness Brille showed up from time to time.
When it was near mid-day, Vesta was escorted to the far side of the building. She was led through a series of stalls filled with horses, and she couldn’t stop herself from pausing and petting whichever one put its head out. She showed the group how to handle each horse, and how to put a halter on successfully. Finally, she reached a door leading outside.
