Chapter 43

Citizen Hill

Citizen sat on her heels next to the workbench.

Bless was on the other side, pacing. It was as if he walked an imaginary line with an end stop at both ends.

A set of commlinks sat on the bench.

Nev should be inside by now. What's taking her so long?

Citizen didn't like these feelings of fear. She kept having to keep her mind from thinking about how tragic things would be if Nev got caught.

"You're nervous, aren't you?" Bless asked.

"Only because your pacing is making me that way."

Bless laughed. "See, those human feelings aren't all great, are they?"

Citizen smiled. "They're worth it. I'll take the bad with the good."

Bless nodded in approval. "That's right. That's how all of us humans do it."

Managing all these emotions was still new to her. She needed his input. "How do you keep feelings of fear from making you constantly prepare for bad things, issues, roadblocks, or any other problem?"
