Chapter 39: Rose Changed Her Mind

Rose didn’t know what had drawn her here, but after Cade had left, she’d missed him. She thought about what he’d said and suddenly it made sense. She was attracted to him. Even if she didn't want to be but his presence made her calm.

That was something no one else had ever done.

That was why Rose was here, suitcases packed, hoping that Cade hadn’t changed his mind. She eyed him. He looked a little ragged at the moment. She’d heard that there was a challenge to him, but she didn’t know what that entailed. If there was a fight, she didn’t want Keegan anywhere near it.

“Mr. McHenry,” Keegan shouted and ran over to Cade.

He picked up the boy and hugged him. “Hey, Keegan.”

“Is this your house?” Keegan asked.

“This is where I live.”

“In the woods, cool.”

Rose couldn’t help smiling at the interaction. The two men in her life cared about each other and that made her happy. She stood as Cade carried Keegan to the porch. “Someone gave me directions. I hope it’s okay that I’m here.”
