Chapter 20. Proposal to Eliminate
"Uncle Juan! Are you okay?" Xiao Shu pretended to be shocked.
Ning Juan who eventually stopped explaining to Xiao Shu turned to see that even the Prince noticed the book, he couldn't help regret that Ning Shen could still read such material in the Prince's presence!
"SHEN'ER! Get out! Get lost!" Ning Juan said while crumbling the pages of the book.
Seeing that her intention was fulfilled, Xiao Shu immediately injected, "Uncle Juan doesn't need to worry! Brother Shen merely came back from battle, he may simply be exhausted, please be tolerant!"
Ning Shen hastily sat up straight, he was wondering what force knocked his book away, but before he could figure it out, his father began shouting at him. Feeling embarrassed Ning Shen immediately glanced at the Little Shu's reaction.
"Don't give explanations for Shen's behaviour, Prince Shu, it's all my fault for not educating him well!" Ning Juan glared at Ning Shen.
"Ah, father, Little Shu, I apologize for my rude behaviour, you guys know I didn't see even the shadow of women in the army!" Ning Shen scratched his head while grinning.
"You don't need to ask forgiveness from me, I am also family, right Uncle? Brother Shen is just a little unfamiliar with our traditions after living in the military for so long!" Xiao Shu quickly said while unknowingly patting Ning Shen's head.
"Ah..ha..Yes, Little Shu is right!" Ning Shen's feelings were a little complicated being patted on the head by a shorter and fragile man like Xiao Shu.
"Cough! Nevertheless, I'm here for a crucial matter, Uncle, I hope you wish to listen!" Xiao Shu hastily removed her hand over Ning Shen's head regretting, she mistakenly behaved as she used to do to her Junior Brothers while in the Demon Sect.
The Junior Brothers usually got into trouble with the master and she had to constantly support them. Thinking of the important topic she appeared here to discuss, she quickly avoided thinking about the past.
Ning Shen lowered his head, eyes drooping and lips pursed together slightly. He was quietly disappointed. He unexpectedly liked the feeling of Xiao Shu caressing his head.
"Is it the Emperor, Prince?" Ning Juan asked hesitantly.
"It's not Imperial Father, it's about sending Zheng Qing to war with the Mongols." Xiao Shu straightened up as if about to disclose something important.
Ning Shen had been away because of the war and didn't understand, he was about to inquire when he's father gestured him to stay silent.
"I recommended him at the court that time, and I want to send Zheng Qing to battle, but as the battle is going to be in the Ning territory, what if Zheng Qing falls into an accident? What does Uncle think?" Xiao Shu explained detecting the confusion on Ning Shen's face.
Listening to Xiao Shu's words, Ning Juan stroked his beardless chin again, "Is the Prince serious..? If the Emperor knows.."
"I am serious, and I hope to get Uncle's assistance to full proof this plan." Xiao Shu stopped smiling, providing full seriousness to the situation.
"Your highness, the Prince, please be certain of your ambitions, as such an action, if it falls into the opponent's hands, the Emperor might be uneasy of you, after all, you and Zheng Qing have always been good friends."
Ning Juan worried that the Emperor might guess the Ning family is influencing Xiao Shu to murder the people close to the Prince and at last control the throne.
"Yes, Little Shu, you weren't very bright-minded from childhood, even in my army, Zheng Qing's people are difficult to discover out."
Ning Shen on the side couldn't help interject, Zheng Qing was the nephew of the Emperor's sister, who later married an ignorant scholar named Zheng Liang but both of them died when Zheng Qing was barely ten years old, compelling the Emperor to take care of Zheng Qing.
