Chapter 29: Caught and Shackled

Logan groaned, groggy and half alive, as he awoke to the sound of dripping water and the pungent scent of garlic. A cool breeze brushed against his face, and he hissed as the searing pain of the iron shackles around his wrists became obvious. His skin burned beneath the metal, being eaten away by the clear liquid that coated the porous material. He peered up and over at his right wrist, encased within metal with a padlock. His gaze ran up the long, thick, links of chains to the bolt that held them into the dirt-laden brick wall.

“Holy water,” he growled, watching how it dripped from one of the junctures between two of the metal pieces.
