"Please don't stop," she said in a shallow, begging voice. 
"I won't," Lucien replied with his half-closed eyes. She could feel that he, too, was feeling the same euphoria and desire she felt.

The Vampire Prince's Pretend Bride

"Uhm… I guess I'll check the door," Blair said, referring to the knocking on the front door. 


"Yeah. It's probably Maev that is here for you. I'll just be in my room, resting." 


Blair simply nodded even though she wanted to ask Lucien to finish what he wanted to say. Yet, she walked away wordlessly, leaving Lucien shaking his head. He, too, thought that he could finally let Blair know what he felt for her. 


"Hello, girl! You're finally up. How are you? Is your strength coming back?" Maev excitedly hugged Blair the moment she opened the door. 


"Yes, I feel a lot better. Not perfect though, I still can't shift myself into a wolf," Blair said while guiding Maev inside and to the couch. 


"I see." Maev glanced worriedly at Blair and continued, "You know what? I had a hard time sleeping last night." 


"Huh? Why? Are you okay?" Blair asked worriedly. 


"I'm fine myself. But I'm just worried about something else." Maev gave Blair a meaningful glance.
