BEHIND THAT DOOR

Lucien stood in front of Blair’s bedroom door, raising and dropping his hand repeatedly in failed attempts to knock.

What he didn’t know was that Blair stood on the opposite side, waiting to see what Lucien would do. She hoped that their night wouldn’t end that way.

She had been staring at that door the moment she got inside. Blair knew that if ever Lucien had followed her, then he could have reached her just before she reached her room.

Yet, he didn’t.

‘Maybe I really am just like those other girls that pretended to be his lover.’

Blair still didn’t know why Lucien needed someone to play the role of a pretend-bride since they were the only two people in the castle. There was never an audience they had to act in front of.
