10. Science

The group just stares at the spoon on the ground, "So…is something supposed to happen?" Blake asks, "Here's a question, why did the spoon fall?" Kento asks again, "Duh, it's because you let it go" Brad said, "Sure that's true, but I'm asking why it falls DOWN, and not UP, or SIDEWAYS" Kento asks, "Huh? Isn't that what's supposed to happen when you drop things" Cross said, "Yes it is, it's natural for things to fall down when it's dropped, so science studies on how that natural law works, on WHY it falls DOWN" Kento said, "So why did it fall down?" Vamuc asks, "Because of gravity" Kento said, "Like the spell?" Aegis said, "Hmm? There's a spell named gravity?" Kento asks, "Yeah, it's a Shadow spell which gives the target the illusion of heavy weight, Blake affinity is shadow so why don't you let her demonstrate?" Aegis said, hearing this, Kento is excited, being a scientist, experiencing heavy gravity is one of his dreams, "Can you cast it on me? I wanna see how it feels" Kento said, "Uhh…sure, i'll start weak, and if you want to increase it, just tell me" Blake said, Kento then stands on an open space, "I'm ready" Kento said excitingly, "The God of shadow, i invoke your name, Unbra" Blake said, a black ball appear on her palm, she then points it at Kento, "Gravity" Blake said, Suddenly the gravity Kento felt increase, which sparks Kento's curiosity, "Interesting…can you double the gravity?" Kento said, "Alright then" Blake said, Blake then expends more mana to increase the gravity, "It's double now" Blake said, Kento is still standing straight, but he felt that everything on him is heavy, including his outfit, "Can someone give me something to hold?" Kento said, Yozora then use his 2 small hands to grab the mug and run towards Kento to give it to him, everyone that just witness the scene thought of the same thing *...Cute*, "Here you go Master" Yozora said, "Thank you Yozora" Kento said, *So cute* Kento thought to himself, "Hmm…it seems like even when I grab things from other sources, it will also feel like it's heavier when I touch it, can you make it heavier?" Kento said, "Sorry Kento, with my mana pool, i can only increase the weight this much" Blake said, "Oh, ok then, you can turn it off now" Kento said, the black ball on Blakes palm disappear and Kento is back to normal, "Wow, that sure is fun, now where was i?" Kento asks, "You're gonna explain why the spoon fell down" Cross said, "Ah right, so why did the spoon fall down, it's because it's being pulled downwards" Kento said, "Being pulled? By who?" Blake asks, "Pulled by the planet itself" Kento said, "What's a planet?" Barbara asks, "Hmm…how should I explain this…a planet is a celestial body that revolves around a star" Kento said, everyone just stares at Kento blankly, "I thought so, i'm gonna ask you guys some questions then to see how far the advancement of science is in this world, what do you call the big bright ball in the sky" Kento said, "Sol" Everyone answered, "...Does that mean the bright ball in the night sky is called Luna?" Kento asks, "Aye, that's correct lad" Vamuc said, *So far, they use Latin when naming things considered to be mystic* Kento thought to himself, "How about the little dots in the sky?" Kento asks, "Stars" Everyone replied, "Right that make things easier, so here's the next of question, is Sol and Luna outside or inside sky" Kento asks again, "Inside" Everyone replied, "Okay, how about the stars" Kento asks again, "The stars are lights from the heavens that pierce through the fabric of Laventerre" Aegis answered, "Alright then, first, i'm gonna tell you knowledge that will conflict with what you believe, 1. Sol and Luna are outside of Laventerre, 2. Sol is a star, 3. The stars you see on the night sky is actually Sol, but just really far away" Kento said, "That doesn't make any sense, if Sol and Luna are outside of Laventerre, how come we can see them" Brad said, "Because we're not inside anything, i mean technically we are, but Laventerre is not inside a fabric where the stars are the light of heaven peeking in, but we are inside a place called spacetime" Kento said, "What does that mean?" Blake asks, "It means we are in something significantly bigger than a fabric covering Laventerre, we are in something that contains everything called a spacetime" Kento said, "Ok? But still, what does it mean?" Blake asks again, "...Imagine this table is Laventerre, now you guys think that everything that exists is on this table, on Laventerre, correct?" Kento asks, "Yes, that is the common sense" Barbara answered, "Now what i'm saying is, there are other tables in this building, and some chairs, and stools, and a bunch of other stuff in this building, and there are also more buildings outside, you catch my drift?" Kento said, "...So you're saying there are other worlds out there" Cross said, "Well, i am here am i not, and i am from another world, well in my case, probably another spacetime" Kento replied, "But that doesn't make sense, if there are other worlds out there, how come we don't have any visitors besides summoning them?" Barbara said, "There's a saying from my world that said 'The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us'" Kento said, "What's a universe?" Brad asks, "It's something like a container for spacetime" Kento answered, "I know you say spacetime a lot, but what exactly is spacetime?" Blake asks, "That's a bit hard to explain, how about a demonstration, can I borrow a blanket?" Kento said, Barbara then goes to the counter and grabs a blanket from under the desk, "Here you go" Barbara said, "Thank you, now, Blake, Brad Cross, and Yozora, please pull the corner" Kento said, the 4 of them then each take a corner and stretch the blanket, "Now, Aegis, you said that stars are heavens light peeking through the fabric of Laventerre right?" Kento asks, "Yeah, but from your explanation, it feels like i am wrong" Aegis answered, "Well the fabric part is right, we literally call this the fabric of spacetime, because it's easier to remember, now imagine this blanket is spacetime, this is the fabric where everything exist, you, me, this building, this continent, Sol, and Luna, everything that you know, exist on this blanket, however, the size is very different, if spacetime is this big, then Laventerre is very very VERY much smaller than a speck of dust, how small you may ask? Imagine if you cut a speck of dust in half for about approximately 1 million times, at least in my world it's that big, i don't know about this one though" Kento said, as Kento was explaining it, the rest of the crew got this look on their face that says their brains are frying, "...Right, perhaps it's too hard to imagine" Kento said, "Yeah, it was, who can imagine the size of a speck of dust being cut in half a million times" Vamuc said, "Well, just know that we are really really REALLY small, compared to the universe. Now onto the main point, why do things fall down, God of Earth, I invoke your name, Terre" Kento said, a ball of earth appeared, "Why are you using earth magic?" Blake asks, "Iron ball" Kento said, the earth ball condensed itself into an Iron ball, Vamuc who is a blacksmith looked at this and was baffled, "What, is that genuinely iron?" Vamuc said, "Yeah it is, why?" Kento asks, "But you're using earth magic no?" Vamuc asks, "Well, iron is part of earth is it not?" Kento asks back, "Technically it is, but if iron is possible, doesn't that mean other ore's are also possible?" Vamuc asks, "How about you try it" Kento said, "Aye, God of Earth, I invoke your name, Terre" Vamuc said, A ball of earth formed, "Mithril" Vamuc said, …nothing happened, it's still an earth ball, "...Interesting" Kento said, "Uh master, how long are we gonna pull on the blanket?" Brad asks, "Ahh right, sorry i got sidetracked, we'll figure it out later Vamuc, Gravity is a force that pull us towards it, every object has a gravitational pull, even us, but it's miniscule, now imagine this iron ball is Laventerre, now if i put Laventerre in the fabric of spacetime, spacetime will bend" Kento said as he put the iron ball on the stretch blanket, "You see that the iron ball, or in this case Laventerre is bending spacetime, meaning that it is large enough to have its gravitational field that it can bend space and time" Kento said, "Bending time you say? How does that work?" Aegis asks, "Well it's already in the name, Spacetime, if an object has enough mass to bend space, it will also bend time as space and time are linked together, so time on Sol or Luna will be different than time on Laventerre" Kento said, "Science sure is a terrifying thing to be able to figure out how the universe works" Aegis said, "Well, it did took us about 100.000 years to figure things out" Kento said.
