The King

Surprisingly, it was Melqart who broke the silence caused by Gilgamesh's sudden presence.

"Verethragna, you dare disrespect me even further? Did you in your arrogance decide that I wasn't your match and summon another god to defeat you? How dare you!"

Lightning danced through the clouds, as if charged by Melqart's anger. However, as Melqart was about to charge at Verethragna, golden chains emerged and wrapped around his body. Struggling, Melqart tried to break though the chains with his superhuman strength but found himself weak and sealed of his authorities.

Gilgamesh merely smirked as [Enkidu] wrapped around Melqart and sealed his divinity.

"Dumb mongrel, if Verethragna was the one to summon me, he would already be dead. Sit there and wait for your judgement while I deal with him!"

Verethragna, who was watching this spectacle from the side, merely laughed with joy.

"It matters to me naught who challenges me, just make this battle worth my while!"

"As the one who holds all victory in my hands, I am the strongest. Man, and devil—all enemies, all who harbor enmity will be vanquished. Hence, I shall smash through all enemies in my way!"

Verethragna then transformed, turning into a golden bull with the strength of Hercules. This was one of his ten incarnations, the [Bull].

Gilgamesh's smile turned into a frown as he gazed upon the golden bull across from him. It brought back unpleasant memories, of the death of his best friend and that accursed witch of a goddess.

Golden ripples covered the sky and weapons of divine quality emerged from them, all aiming at the golden bull approaching him.

"It seems misfortune smiles upon you mongrel. I was planning to take this slow for my own entertainment, but since you have taken on such an accursed form, I shall end you where you stand!"

"Oh, key of the king's law, open the gate to the golden capital and unleash the king's treasury!"

Like golden raindrops, all the weapons fired upon the golden bull, ripping into its glistening flesh and tearing away at its skin.

The golden bull tried to push through the rain of weapons but was unable to get through the sheer arsenal being continuously thrown at it.

Eventually Verethragna had enough, and stopped the [Bull], returning to his [Youth] form. But despite, the various cuts that were rapidly healing around his body, a smile was imprinted onto his face.

"How entertaining! To think there was a heretic god capable of defeating my [Bull] without lifting a finger! I should have summoned you earlier instead of that Melqart! However, if you think beating me is so easy, then you are surely mistaken."

A golden sword formed in the hands of Verethragna, as the countless gates covering the sky suddenly disappeared. No, it didn't destroy the [Gate of Babylon], rather, it was trying to seal it! This was one of Verethragna's ten incarnations, [Warrior], that represented his aspect as a war god that subjugated foreign deities.

"You have stated your role as the oldest king and wield a treasury beyond compare. You are Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes, and your arrogance shall prove to be your downfall!"

"Both eloquent and powerful. I am the sword of wisdom, that which tears foes apart. I am the strongest, for I am the one holding all victory in my hands. I shall smash through all enemies in my way!"

Gilgamesh's [Gate of Babylon] was then sealed by by the [Warrior] authority. Taking up his golden sword, Verethragna attacked Gilgamesh.

However, Gilgamesh was ready for him, as a pair of twin blades parried his strike. The twin blades then transformed into a pair of tonfa's, which promptly smashed into Verethragna.

Verethragna blocked with his golden sword and was sent flying.

"This is the end for you mongrel! Although you were stronger than I thought, you are still no match for me!"

The pair of tonfa's in his hands had transformed into a bow, shooting a golden bolt of light at Verethragna's feet.

"Behold! The inferno of destruction fills the heavens! Come forth! The Surge of Utnapishtim! This is what it means to destroy the World! Gods, suffer the curse that the insolence of challenging the King of Heroes has brought upon ye!"

The arrow sent a light that pierced into the heavens. The light fell from space in a spiral, becoming a spear that fell upon the earth as a "star of destruction".

The spear cleaved through the sky, guided by the arrow sent by Gilgamesh, and landed directly on top of Verethragna.

Watching the falling light, Verethragna planned on escaping using [Raptor], but was unable to as he was surrounded by golden chains which prevented him from escaping out of range.

Smiling bitterly, Verethragna accepted his loss with grace.

"It seems today, that I have finally accepted defeat! I, Verethragna, have finally experienced loss!"

The star of destruction fell upon Verethragna, piercing though his form and returning him to the [Domain of Immortality].

The surging waves and impact were stopped from affecting the nearby area by the sturdy chains of [Enkidu].

Gilgamesh, however, remembered sealing Melqart with his chains. Did, the Heretic god actually escape? That should be impossible. Did he possess a sealing authority that he secretly hid?

Looking back at the location of Melqart, he expected to see some signs of escape, but instead found himself looking at massive hole.

Right next to the hole, he spotted a girl with a boy's head on her lap, the boy being surrounded by golden light and clutching onto a stone tablet.

Gilgamesh looked on with amusement.

It seems the Seventh Campione had finally been born.
