After over thirty-years of searching, Ravuth at last feels hopeful. 
Recalling the last time he saw his parents and mischievous younger brother at his village, when the Khmer Rouge herded them off like animals, along with the rest of the villagers, he can only imagine what they have been through. 

This thrilling, unpredictable, yet sometimes hilarious quest, takes you from the fashionable London restaurant scene to the wild, untamed jungles of the Cardamom Mountains, where an English baker helps a Cambodian refugee searching for his missing family and an elusive plant, the source of an exquisite spice.

The Spice

Retired professor Frank Johnson sat in his living room enjoying a cup of tea when the doorbell rang. 


“Hello professor Eden,” said the slim, grey-haired old professor, answering the door to his former science tutor colleague from USF. “It’s nice to see you Tom.” 


Inviting Professor Tom Eden in, they went into the living room and sat on a sofa. 


“It’s been a while,” said Frank, who smiled and asked, “To what do I owe this unexpected visit?” 


“I have something for you,” said Tom and while Frank poured him a cup of tea Tom took something from his briefcase and said, “While they were refurbishing the old Botany Sciences department, I came across this locked away in an old desk drawer in Professor Elliot, the head of the departments, office.” 


He handed Frank a thick brown envelope addressed to him at USF and said, “And, as it’s addressed to you, I thought you should have this.”
