The Wrong Mate

We walk back to the main house and Beau remains quiet.

I don't know what to say but I need to say something to manage the situation. Beau warned me that he would only intervene if anything happened to his son and now, something has happened to Col. I expect anger from him and I deserve that but I will not give up on Col.

We get to the house finally "What happened here?'' Beau asks immediately.

There is a frown on his face. I wish I could tell him that I knew what happened because I have no clue. I wasn't even there when they took Col. I have no idea what happened that day.

"I am sure you have already heard the stories; I am sure you know more about what happened than I do. I just woke up.''
