The Wrong Mate

It feels like I blacked out but I don't even know as I open my eyes again. What happened?

My sight is blurry as I try to focus on my surroundings. I feel like I am outside. I feel the cold air on my skin and the branches of the trees swaying in the wind. I hear the birds chirping and the leaves rustling in the trees.

"Rome,'' I call out his name as I try to get my sight back.

My heart thuds against my chest as I try to get my bearings. I feel as if I am chest-deep in water. My hands and legs feel numb, there is a pounding in my head as I try to remember what happened.

I got to the pack, I saw Roman, things were great.
