Chapter 73: Everything Hurts

His body heat felt like a furnace that kept me warm in the freezing weather. It was nice and soothing. I fought the sleep, untrusting of him, but my sleep beat me mercilessly like a duel between a giant and that of a toddler, and I succumbed to it.

"Charli." He shook me and called my name in a soft tone. "Charli. The sun is up. We should get moving."

I stir awake and blink up at him, watching as he gazed down at me smittenly. I quickly cleared my throat and moved to crawl out of the hollow tree. It was just past dawn and the biting wind had gone. The air felt chilly, but not as freezing as it was last night. He grunted as he got out and stretched. I immediately felt bad remembering how cramped it was in there, especially for someone as big as him to squeeze in that tiny space with me.
