Chapter 98: Vows

The throne room was filled with people: Sir Nigelle and his wife holding Mariella; the squires; the knights of the Royal Kingdom; Knights of Sewell Castle; even Sarey was there with the assassin clan.

As Aeron and I slowly made our way up the red carpet to the soft music. My eyes landed on the polished Renaud, standing ever so dangerously suave at the altar. His eyes were glistening with glee and wonder, and what looked like tears as he quickly turned away to wipe one away from his cheek. Turning his gaze back onto me, his quivering smile lit up my whole world and melted my heart all the way to my feet. He continued to wipe away the tears that were rolling down his face.

I've never seen him so happy and I couldn't help but smile. Next thing I knew, my vision blurred and soon tears overflowed and rolled down my face. My heart continued to pound loudly and I had to keep taking in deep breaths to prevent it from leaping out of my chest.
