Pink Macarons and Purpose (3/3)

As Loma and Yamm stood side by side watching all the novices except Mara trip over themselves to impress her, she was once more overcome by the niggling feeling that she should be doing something more.

"What is it? I can sense your unease." Yamm said. "I meant it when I said I wanted to know the reason for your suffering. I must go soon, but if you speak, I will hear as well as listen."

Loma wanted to tell him it was nothing, but she was tired of pretending. A lump formed in her throat as her gaze followed the novices back and forth across the yard. How she wanted so badly to be like the rest of them, to have magic that allowed her to truly be part of the group. It was so boring to only be able to watch.
