As frustrating as Lysander could be when the cycle of his thoughts had spun into something closer to pure moping than anything else, Nicasi was especially good at treating the ailments of the man whose flaws were the secret treasures entrusted only to him. He'd been doing it ever since he was a still a novice and Lysander was a new adherent.

They'd fought a lot back then, before they surrendered to the constant push and pull between them. Or more accurately, Nicasi fought. Lysander just floated along like a perfect, solitary cloud, oblivious to his part in the aggravation Nicasi felt every time they were within eyesight of each other.

At one point in time, Nicasi had wanted nothing more than to show everyone that Lysander was no better than the rest of them despite the reputation that paved the path before him in silver everywhere he went.
