A Stronger Connection (1/1)

"Looks like we have a visitor. And it probably brought Mara along." Wren pointed at the chestnut pony that was decimating a patch of orange calendula flowers at the edge of the garden.

Its tail swished happily as it nipped off the last blossom in a swath of green, then moved a few paces down to start on a new plant.

On the walk home, Rowan had been distracted both by Wren's well-being after what had happened and by a growing sense of unease that niggled at him the longer he spent in his woods. He couldn't shake the feeling that they were trying to tell him something.

When he touched the threads of energy that held the fabric of the woods together, he was surprised to discover that he could immediately sense the strange feeling wasn't related to the Creature or poison at all. It was something familiar, but he couldn't quite place it.

Rowan was just getting ready to tell Wren about it, but the pony's destruction of his flowers temporarily distracted him.
