I was born and raised in the village of Khela, where fairies had lived, hidden from mankind, for centuries in peace. That all changed when we were discovered. As mankind’s population grew, they expanded, and took over more land. They were soon to close for comfort. Beneath the land we lived on was a mineral deemed valuable to the humans. Once the nearby hunters discovered this, they came to collect.

I woke up in a sweat. I opened my eyes to see the very walls surrounding me on fire. I ran to the door but the exit was blocked. “Mama, Papa!” I screamed out to my parents but in return got nothing but silence. I ran over to the window, hoping to squeeze through. Luckily I was able to get the window open. I squeeze through the tight opening.
I fall to the ground, and begin coughing due to the smoke. I look around to see the other houses we’re also burning. Fairies we’re being ripped from their homes, and thrown into cages. Wings were being cut off their backs. I gasp in horror at the sight.
I turn to my home, that had begun to coplase, with my parents presumably still inside. A ruff hand grabs my arm, attempting to pull me away. I stomp on his foot causing him to loosen his grip on me. I run as fast as my legs can take me into the forest. I dont know just how long, but I kept running, until I reached civilization, until I reached the manor. There my legs gave out, and I collapsed at the doorstep. Just before passing out, I manage to summon the courage to hide my wings.

“And that's how I ended up here.”
“Amora, I'm so sorry…” Everly pulls Alora into an embrace. “I won't let them hurt you again, I promise.” Amora gladly returns the hug. Everly hears movement in the wood. She pulls away. “Let's go inside. It isn't safe here.” The two return to the manor, and Everly tries her best to brush off the unnerving feeling; that something bad may soon happen, in the pit of her stomach.
