Attacked

Suddenly Ace contacted me. I was surprised by the sound of the phone. Victor stopped telling me about his dreamlike life. It's interesting, to the point that I often lose track of time and don't even have an interest in working.

"I'll have to answer the phone first," I told Victor.

Victor gave me permission.

"Hello, Ace. What's the matter?"

"How are you? Are you okay? There has been no news for several days."

I feel happy if someone asks how I'm doing like Ace did. But now I feel a little bad for Victor. It felt like I was cheating.

Victor was refilling his coffee. We are still in his apartment. This place has truly become a place where we are free to talk.

"I'm fine. Very good in fact. You, how is it?"

"Good. I'm still quite busy with the final project."

Ace sighed.

I think I'd better not ask the final task. It can be stressful.

"I'm sure you can get through it," I said and glanced at Victor to see his reaction. Is he jealous?

I didn't see such a reaction. Perhaps his tolerance is quite high towards the relationship of men and women as friends.

"I hope so."

There was a momentary pause between us. I wonder why he called. Since there was no word from Ace, I took the initiative.

"You called to find out the progress of the café?"

"Yes. That's one of the reasons I contacted you."

I laughed a little. Nothing funny actually. I laughed just to make our conversation more relaxed.

"You don't have to worry. So far everything is going according to plan. Pray for the project to be completed on time so that it doesn't drain your finances. Tomorrow morning I will come to him again and send you photos of the latest developments."

"Aren't you working?"

"Work. I can do that after visiting the project. As long as I can reach the internet, I can work from anywhere," I said casually.

Victor sat back in the living room again. Since then we have been sitting together in front of a television with a dusty surface. Victor has never turned it on since arriving here. The cabinet behind him was also empty, he didn't put any decorations. There are no curtains for the door leading to the balcony. So, at night I could see the scenery outside this Red Apartment. As Victor continued his story, I listened while enjoying a snack.

Victor put down two cups of coffee. Actually, he didn't refill, but made new coffee for himself and for me. I was flattered by his treatment. In my ear, Ace said, "Ah... Freelancers are different, huh."

"Thank you!" to me, it sounds like a compliment.

I heard Ace laugh. "You do..."

"What?"

"Different from the rest," Ace said.

I laughed. I think I know what he means.

"Well. Thank you for helping me. I have already transferred your salary this month."

"Waw! That's what I've wanted to hear since just now."

I laughed and he laughed too. For other people who didn't know me, I would be seen as a moneyed figure, but I didn't care. I also don't care if Ace thinks of me as such. However, my little heart said, Ace didn't judge me that superficially.

"Well. See you in Yogya," said Ace.

"Yes. Hope everything goes well," I said.

I hung up after Ace hung up.

Victor seemed to be looking at his mobile phone. Did someone send him a message? His face was quite serious.

"Any problems?" I asked. As a girlfriend, I feel like it doesn't matter if I figure out a little bit of his business.

"No. It's nothing," said Victor who then put down his mobile phone.

At that time I felt that Victor was hiding something from me. Even so, I didn't want to urge him, so I stopped my curiosity.

"So, how does it go? Did the police finally find where Luis was?" I asked. I feel, right now, what can unite us is a story about his past. While hoping that our relationship would become stronger, I asked him to continue his story.

"I also want to know how you and Mario finally got to know each other. Honestly, I think your story has widened."

We did not sit on the sofa, but on the carpet and both leaned on the sofa.

"No. It's not spinning at all. You will be surprised if you know the connection between it."

"Really?"

Victor nodded. The face expresses something I couldn't understand at the time.

"How is the relationship?"

"As you said, this story will sound round and round, but they all have a connection. Nothing is a coincidence at all. Maybe one day, you can write it into a novel."

Victor turned to me and smiled. All of a sudden I came up with an idea.

"Then can I make a transcript?"

"Transcript?"

Victor didn't understand the meaning of the word transcript.

"I'm going to rewrite your story. Wait here, I got my laptop."

"Are you really going to turn it into a novel?"

"Blame yourself for giving me ideas," I said as I walked quickly into the room. After work, I left the laptop on the bed, in the room.

"Well, I'm ready," I said after I returned and had opened Microsoft Word.

Victor smiled. "I feel depressed. It's like talking to a reporter, or an investigator."

"Have you ever talked to them?"

Victor shook his head. I sneered at him.

"It won't be the same. You just need to tell the story, and I typed it out."

"Can the typing speed keep up with my speech?"

"Are you challenging me?" I asked.

We stared at each other. I deliberately challenged him. I will use this opportunity to show my greatness.

Victor also continued his story. After living with Ken, he said he often had strange dreams. However, he ignored it.

He told me in advance about Ox's appearance in Falcon Face Mall.

That day, suddenly the weather became cloudy and it rained heavily. Ken gave Victor a ride. They went to work together in Ken's car. I'm curious about Ken's wealth. Who is he really? Does he have a sponsor? But for a while, I didn't want to ask about it. I'm going to focus on typing, doing a transcript of Victor's story that started in the pouring rain.

Victor and Ken arrived at the office at the same time. No one asked why they could arrive at the same time. It also seems that no one knows that they are already living together and no one cares if fellow employees become familiar with each other.

They prepare as usual and also work as usual. However, because the weather was bad, not many people came to the Mall. That day it can almost be said that there were no customers.

However, a fairly eccentric customer appears at the store where Victor works with Ken. Victor recognized the customer so Victor walked up to him.

"Ox, welcome. How can I help you?"

Victor was very surprised by the appearance of Ox because Ox's profile obviously did not match the profile of customers who usually shop at Falcon Face Mall.

Ken suddenly pulled Victor's arm back and pushed Ox away from Victor. Suddenly things went awry. Ken uses his domain to protect his surroundings.

In a hurry, Ken didn't have time to think about luring Ox to a safer place or away from ordinary mall visitors. Ken only focused on saving Victor at that second.

Victor was stunned by Ken's actions. "What's the matter?"

The question is answered with a complete transformation of Ox. The female turned into a fox completely. The nails of his fingers and toes are elongated. His behavior became like an animal.

"Victor is my prey! you shouldn't bully me!" Ox was furious at Ken who was standing in front of Victor.

"Go back! She is no match for you and you are in danger. Go with Chelsea," Ken told Victor. Chelsea is the cashier who works with them.

"Victor! come here!" Chelsea yelled and took Victor to go to safety.

"I won't let it!" Ox jumped quickly with the intention of pouncing on Victor.

Ken moved equally fast and they collided in the middle.

"The fox should live in the forest!" Ken mocked.

Now no one could exit or log into the Domain created by Ken.

In the Falcon Face Mall office, Aditya and Mario could feel the appearance of the Domain. They stared at each other and waited for how Ken would cope with the arrival of the uninvited guest.

Meanwhile, people outside the Domain could go about their activities as usual. They don't know if their time and space are sliced into two dimensions. In the small dimension inside Falcon Face Mall, there is a fierce battle between Ken and Ox.

Victor and Chelsea can't go outside the domain, but they can hide in a safe place. Far enough away from the fight. They see Ken trying to return kicks and punches from Ox. Ken also avoids Ox's sharp nails.

"You have no hunting ethics!" Ken satirizes and makes fun of Ox.

"Who is talking? You suddenly showed up and stole my prey!" Ox pulls out a dagger and uses it to try to stab Ken's body.

Ken can move agilely to dodge any Ox attacks. Ken exerted a full punch to Ox's face, causing Ox to roll backwards. Her body hit the barrier. Ox quickly stood back up and attacked Ken.
