Chapter 11: With No Coming Back

Hailey’s POV

That I'm his Luna?

“You're lying,” I cut him off immediately, feeling like my heart is going to burst out of my mouth, because of how fast it has begun to beat. It's a pressure that throbs all the way to my ears, and dulls all the other sounds of the world.

“Do you really believe that, Hals, do you think I could lie about this?”

He looks at me, with a slight frown and an expectant expression, as I try to decipher the truth in his eyes. But his deep blue gaze reveals to me what he has always said: Owen may be many things, but he has never been good at lying. He prefers the truth, no matter how raw and direct it may be.

And so, I know he's not lying to me in this regard, and it's in understanding this that it all comes back, from the night before, when we met again, and until now. Since then, Owen hasn't stopped trying to tell me something, something important. And of course, that fact couldn't be anything else, but that I am his Luna.
