Chapter 49: The Elatha

RORY POV

A bright light flashed, and I struggled to see. I narrowed my eyes and tried to focus, but the bright light made it extremely hard to see.

Where was I?

As the light started to diminish, buildings and street signs began to come into focus. Where was this place, and how did I get here?

I certainly wasn't in Alaska, that was for sure. I didn't see any spruce or evergreen trees anywhere. I didn't see a single tree anywhere. This town I was in didn't look like Wayford or Fairbanks. This was a much, much bigger city. Oddly, the street was empty. There were cars parked on the road, and as I stood on the sidewalk and looked in both directions, to the left and the right, I could see businesses, shops, and even a subway station. The sign above it said "Fifth Street Station." Alaska certainly didn't have a subway system in any of its towns.
