Chapter 47: Selene

I wouldn't make it all the way to Knightvale tonight, I had to find a place to rest. I needed to have a good cry.

It wasn't long until I found a relatively quiet and abandoned neighborhood on the outskirts of Kilbrook. The houses were all boarded up but it was far enough away from the city that there were no people loitering within or without.

I turned off the bike and yanked the helmet free, inhaling a breath of fresh air. The entire drive I had felt like I was suffocating. The tears never once relented as I sped through Kilbrook, hoping against everything that the guys wouldn't follow me.

I made my way up to the front door of the abandoned house and tested the knob. It was locked. The windows too. I found a brick in the front yard and picked it up, ready to smash one of the panes on the door and make my way in when a piece of metal caught my eye in the dirt. It was a spare key.

Maybe there was a God.
