FOUR YEARS LATER
I walked down the foul smelling hallway of the facility and fought the urge to cover my nose. It smelled like death and decay and I couldn't imagine having to live here. The thought made me smile.
Room 207; that's where he was and that's where I was headed.
I pushed open the door with a single finger, wary of touching anything in this place. It was a small room, dank and putrid just like the rest of the place. There was a single lamp on and it illuminated the small space with a dark orange glow.
Arthur laid in the bed and seeing him again forced all of the air from my lungs. He was so weak looking, so trivial compared to the man he used to be. He had once been larger than life, and now he was a husk.
