Chapter 27

A hint of daylight peeked through the bedroom blinds. Jessica pulled the covers tightly under her chin to snuggle in for a few more minutes of rest. The heavy arm draped over her side gripped firmer, pulling her tighter to his lean, warm body. The last thing she wanted to do was slide out of this king-sized, cozy bed, and comfortable hold, but her husband would be home soon, and she needed to be there, in that bed, the one she'd shared with him for the past seven years.

She thought she loved her husband when she married him, but it didn't take long to realize what a mistake that had been. Now she felt stuck. He was a nice man, hadn't done anything wrong, and she just couldn't bear to divorce him - hurt him. Yet, she did find herself in the arms of another. How was that any better? Guilt riddled her, yet week after week, she snuck off to another man's bed.
