The four of them loaded into Ben's truck and headed to the supper club.


Cori watched Ben and her boys as they chatted and laughed with each other and those at the banquet table. 


The junior varsity team had a winning record, but the varsity team had had a tough year. Even so, they all seemed to be having a good time reliving the best plays of the year. 


As dessert was served, the coaches began with the awards program, announcing the stats and handing out certificates. Once they finished with the hard-stat awards, Coach Meyer introduced Ben. Coach rattled off his impressive stats from almost thirty years ago and reminded everyone that Ben still holds the school record for the most home runs. 


Her handsome date stood and smiled at the applause. Then he walked up to the front of the room.
