Chapter 274: I will always stand by your side

Caleb Baker stood still, his head lowered as if intensely engaged in a contest with the newly sprouted grass beneath his feet, which he tread idly upon. The ground was damp; the scent of moisture had yet to dissipate.

The chilling sensation, almost sentient, seemed to seep into his bones, bringing a peculiar discomfort.

Yvonne Finley hesitated for a moment, a sudden pang of regret and helplessness in her heart. "I often act without considering the consequences, only thinking about my own interests. I was wrong, okay?"

She never cared much about saving face. Moreover, the Baker family's issues had nothing to do with him. She wouldn't displace her anger onto him. As his girlfriend, she acknowledged that she hadn't been considering things from his perspective.

Caleb Baker made a slight movement, showing signs of softening. He couldn't keep this up for long. After all, he wasn't asking for an apology. In this situation, she was the victim; he was merely letting off steam.
