Chapter 288: She is His Little Sparrow

This statement was more of a command to leave.

Holly Martinez was taken aback, even incredulous.

Yvonne Finley and Caleb Baker held their tongues, remaining quietly by the side.

This was their family matter and, although they were friends, it wasn't their place to interfere.

Walker Martinez shifted, the tearing pain in his chest turning his face even paler than before, but he never cried out. He had woken up even though the anesthesia should have lasted longer, lying there for a whole day and night. His consciousness seemed very clear, and he had intermittent dreams. He dreamt of Warrior Tucker alone and helpless, facing malicious criticism by himself since high school, contending with constant disapproval, meeting her again several years later, her distress while being forced to entertain at a drinking party. As always, she had been stubborn, refusing to give in, not shedding a single tear.

It seemed as though she wouldn't be sad even if the whole world was destroyed.
