Rae Bennett stopped letting her thoughts wander, picked up her phone, and saw Juan Morris sharing updates about his business on IG Feed. Rae left a perfunctory "like".

Juan Morris must have been bored out of his mind because, after just ten minutes, he called.

"How are things with Wyatt Wright?"

Maybe the effects of the alcohol were kicking in—Rae felt a heaviness in her chest and couldn't muster any enthusiasm. She began her late-night melancholic musings, "It's just the same."

Which meant they hadn't reconciled.

Fulfilling the role of her family, Juan Morris was quite adept at it: "Don't forgive him so quickly; it makes you look easy to bully."

Rae took off her coat, placed it on the bed, and lay on it, burying her face into the coat: "I'm on Noressee Isle, and so is Wyatt. He's staying in the room next to mine."
