As soon as her words fell, Miya Ford was pushed aside by Kou Li, who then closed the door.
With a loud bang, the sound of the door handle and all danger was shut outside. Miya Ford leaned against the door, her mouth agape, breathing heavily. Her palm was all sweaty as she reached for the light switch by the door and pressed it, but the light didn't come on. She picked up her bag from the ground, found her phone, turned on the flashlight, and saw no sign of the room being ransacked. She went to the kitchen, grabbed a fruit knife, held it in her hand, and returned to the door to listen to the noises outside.
It sounded like gunshots, but she wasn't sure.
