539: Clement Atkins Extra Final Chapter (Four Updates)

A girl came to sweep the tomb, very young, wearing a hat, holding a bunch of white flowers in her hand.

The girl did not divert her attention to other tomb sweepers and placed the flowers in front of Emmanuel Bennett's tombstone.

"Dad."

Shaw Fletcher really wanted to see what the girl looked like but didn't dare to look; he pretended to be a tomb sweeper from the next plot. He could feel that the atmosphere around him had changed; he kept his head down and happened to see Clement Atkins's hand hanging by his side, tightly clenched, fingertips turning blue, trembling.

The girl sat for a while then got up and left the cemetery.

Clement Atkins turned around stiffly, waited for the people to walk far away, and then whispered softly, "Long time no see."

Shaw Fletcher only later found out that the girl he encountered in the cemetery was Rae Bennett, the person whom Clement Atkins had secretly cherished for a very long time, the main character in the oil painting by his bedside.
