Hearing Auston's words, Emily got in the car in a hurry, not caring about embarrassment.
"Have you found Sonia? Where is she now?"
Emily was really worried, because Sonia was very old now.
She was afraid that Sonia would die if she went there too late.
"I haven't found Sonia. I found her grandson, who lives in a small village in Sheffield."
"Her grandson? How could her grandson know?"
Auston started the car. When he heard this, he turned to look at her and couldn't help laughing. "You are so stupid. If you find her grandson, you will find her, won't you?"
A grandson must know where his grandma was.
As soon as Auston spoke, Emily realized that she had made a mistake.
She turned her head sulkily.
How could she become like this?
If he hadn't said those unkind words to her, would she have become like this?
Auston thought Emily would sneer at him.
She was not a person who would swallow the insult.
To his surprise, Emily had put up with it.
