The sun was scorching, and the smell of asphalt gushed out on the road. A woman was wearing sunglasses and carrying a limited edition bag. She was all wrapped up and steadily walked across in high heels.
The waiter welcomed her warmly. She raised her hand and said, "No need to follow. I have an appointment."
"Okay." The smile on the waitress's face froze. She took half a step back to greet other guests.
The woman went upstairs, stopped at the door of the private room at the end of the second floor, and knocked on the door.
"Come in."
Luke was inside the room, holding a woman on each arm. Seeing Emma coming in, he waved his hand to let the woman who was waiting on him go.
"I've heard a lot about you, Miss Emma."
He stood up and walked to her side, trying to take off her sunglasses, but was dodged by Emma. Her voice was cold.
"I didn't expect you to be the person who sent a private message to me on the blog. Luke, what do you want to do to Lucas again?"
Emma and Lucas grew up together, so she naturally knew the young master of the Lucas family who came home on the way was. Like Lucas, she also hated Luke very much.
"Well, it seems that you are still the same as before."
Luke sat down again with his two legs crossed and sighed, "But so what? Your brother hasn't been waiting for you."
Hearing Lucas's name, Emma tightened her hand on her bag. She gritted her teeth, took off her sunglasses, revealed her heavily made-up face, and sat down opposite Luke.
"What do you want me to do here?"
"To help you."
Emma seemed to have heard something funny. She touched her hair, put her sunglasses on the tea table, and poured herself a glass of red wine.
She raised the goblet with her long nails and shook it gently as arrogant as she was.
"Ha-ha-ha... Help me? Luke, we haven't seen each other for such a long time. Your self-confidence has grown. Why do you think you, an unwelcome illegitimate child in the Lucas family, can help me?"
Luke squinted his eyes and put his tongue on his cheek. He was indeed angry at her words, but he could bear it.
"Now that you are here, you just want to have a try, don't you? Well, why don't you listen to me?"
Emma took a mouthful of red wine in her mouth and it stimulated her mucus. She moved her throat and swallowed it.
As soon as she came back from abroad, she heard that Lucas had been with a married woman against Lucas's grandpa's will. She was confident that Lucas was just playing with her and didn't take it seriously. She didn't expect that they had already gotten the marriage certificate. How could she still calm.
On second thought, Luke was his enemy, so he didn't want Lucas to be with the one he liked the most. It made sense to help her. But what's more, Lucas's grandpa disliked him when he was with that woman. Wasn't that what he wanted?
Noticing the change in her eyes, Luke probably knew what she was thinking. He refilled her glass with a smile.
"Look at this first."
He raised his eyebrows and handed over a well-preserved photo.
It was a high school graduation photo. Emma saw Luke in a bad look and the woman she was not familiar with at a glance. To confirm her idea, she turned over and looked at the list behind. It was indeed Ashley!
Something interesting happened. She gently knocked on the table and asked, "Are you her classmate in high school?"
"Yes, you're right. Aren't you curious why I want to break her up with Lucas? That's the answer. I've liked her since high school. I can't get rid of my feelings for her. Even after ten years, I still can't forget her. How can I be happy to see her and Lucas get together?" Said Luke.
Speaking of the last few words, Luke gnashed his teeth. Emma saw jealousy and hatred in his eyes. No wonder he wanted to cooperate with her.
She liked Lucas and he liked Ashley. If they succeeded in breaking up them, they would get what they wanted.
She took the photo with her mobile phone and stood up. "Well, since we have a common goal, I can cooperate with you. I will contact you when it's necessary."
Luke promised her and watched her walk out. The photos on the table reflected in the light, and Ashley's face turned into a mess
Knowing that Luke liked Ashley, Emma couldn't wait to go to the Lucas group. The receptionist knew her and only asked her symbolically to let her in without an appointment.
Lucas went back to his office after the meeting. He couldn't help to frown when he saw her.
"Why are you here?"
A touch of sadness flashed through Emma's eyes when she faced his cold attitude, but she hid it well. She ran to hold his arm tightly.
"Lucas, you are so cold to me after not being seen for a long time. I helped you on the Internet. You make me sad."
Lucas didn't like her deliberate intimacy. He pulled his arm out of her hand and returned to his chair. His face was still calm.
"Is that why you are here?"
As far as he knew, Emma wouldn't do anything for no reason. Her character and identity wouldn't allow her to appear in front of anyone like this.
As he expected, Emma walked quickly and stood in front of him with a playful smile on her face.
"What do you think, Lucas?"
"I don't have time to play such a trick with you. There are still a lot of things in the company. I'll ask someone to send you out." Then he was about to call Martin in.
Hearing that, Emma stopped him immediately. "Hey, Lucas, don't do that. I think you don't know that thing."
She sighed pitifully. Lucas didn't understand what she meant. He just didn't think it was a good thing.
"What is it?"
"Look at me, Lucas. You like her so much. You can surely accept her past. It seems that I'm trying to sow dissension between you and her."
Lucas frowned. Her purpose was obvious, but she told him that it had something to do with Ashley, which made him unable to let it go.
"Make it clear!"
He pulled a cold face. Under this pressure, Emma took out his phone reluctantly and showed the photos on it.
"Look, this is it. It turns out that Luke and Ashley are high school classmates. I've heard that... They have been together for a while."
Emma deliberately changed Luke's statement "like" to "two people had been in love". Lucas's eyes darkened after hearing this. He took the phone and zoomed in on the photo. It was indeed Ashley, and there was almost no change in her face.
"Where did you get it? Where did you hear these baseless words?" He knew that Ashley had kept in touch with Luke these days, so he didn't know whether he was angry with Emma or Ashley who didn't tell him the truth.
His face was gloomy and terrible, but Emma was very excited.
