Chapter 31 Difficult to Accept

Soon, Ashley was pushed out of the delivery room. She was in a coma. Her face was pale and sweaty, and her hair stuck to her forehead and side face. Seeing this, Lucas felt uncomfortable and gently helped her tidy up her hair. His eyes were red.

"Mr. Lucas, your wife's life has been saved. She needs to be hospitalized for observation for a few days. We will arrange for someone to deal with the baby. Don't worry."

After saying that, the doctor took a look at the direction of Julia. With a smile at the corners of her mouth, she nodded.

With a loud bang, there was a dull thunder outside. It was getting dark. Lucas followed him to the ward with heavy steps. The doctor didn't allow him to go in for the time being.

"I want to go in and keep her company!" He pushed the doctor away, but before he could get in, he was stopped by the Johnson family.

"Lucas, calm down. No one wants what happened today to happen. But Ashley just... She must be very weak after that. Isn't it affecting the doctor's treatment if you go in now?"

Mrs. Johnson glanced at Ashley in the ward, and a look of disgust flashed through her eyes.

She was useless. She couldn't keep a baby after being pregnant for ten months. The Johnson family still wanted to get close to the Lucas family with this baby. Now it seemed that they were going to fail.

"I don't need your family's permission. Get out of here!"

He had been nice to the Johnson family only for the sake of Ashley. Now that she was lying inside, what else should he worry about?

Mrs. Johnson was also stunned by his yell. She looked at her husband and Julia and released her hand awkwardly.

"Mom, you, dad, and grandma can go back first. I'll stay here with my sister and brother-in-law. Don't worry."

She finally found a chance to be alone with Lucas. She must seize it.

With a big smile on her face, she didn't seem to care about Ashley at all, but the Johnson family thought she was sensible and agreed to her request.

"Take care of yourself, too. It's a foregone conclusion. Please comfort your brother-in-law more."

"I will. Dad, mom, you can leave now."

She couldn't wait to see them off. The Johnson family turned to look at Lucas and left without saying anything.

The doctor passed by her and exchanged a look with her. Then she walked up to Lucas and reached out to pull him.

Although Lucas was immersed in pain, he was sensitive to this move. He dodged it and looked at him with a frown.

"What are you doing?"

At this time, there were not many people in the corridor of the hospital. It was quiet. Julia's shoulder trembled and her eyes were immediately filled with tears. She lowered her head at a loss and slowly raised her head to look at him timidly.

"Brother-in-law, I'm just worried about you. I'm afraid that it is bad for your health if you are too worried about my sister. I want to help you sit down for a while."

Lucas put her aside and his eyes gloomy. This woman was so scheming that he didn't want to see her for one more second. He asked her to leave.

"I don't need you here. Go back!"

"Brother-in-law, I'm worried about you. You don't look well. You must be worried too much. What if you pass out? I can take care of you when I'm with you."

Just then, Martin came over. He was still having a rest when Lucas called him. When he heard this, he was stunned. He didn't come at the right time?

"Mr. Lucas..."

"My assistant will help me solve everything. You don't have to stay here." His tone became impatient.

As if Julia had been greatly wronged, she cried unexpectedly. She lowered her head and twisted her fingers, and her feet moved bit by bit.

"Brother-in-law, did I do something wrong? Why did you do this to me? I know I'm not as good as my sister, but I mean it..."

"Enough! Get out of here right now!"

Since she paid no attention to what he said, he lost his temper and yelled at her. Even Martin couldn't help trembling and looked at Julia with a pout.

"Miss Julia, please go back. I'll take care of Mr. Lucas. He'll be fine."

She bit her lower lip tightly and looked at him pitifully. No man was willing to drive her away when he saw her like this.

She was so confident that she thought Lucas was one of those men.

However, Lucas ignored her and didn't leave the ward for even a second, fearing that Ashley needed him.

"Miss Johnson, let me walk you out."

Martin made a gesture to invite her out. Unwilling to give up, she angrily looked at the woman lying on the bed. She was not in a hurry. Now it was the time for Lucas to be weak. She had plenty of time to warm him up and take advantage of this opportunity to attack him.

When Ashley recovered and found that her baby and husband were gone, she must have had a "good" expression.

She snorted in her heart. Now that she was satisfied with this thought, she was not as angry as before and walked out arrogantly.

The second day, she woke up with the help of her strong willpower. The doctor came to give her a basic examination and made sure there was nothing wrong with her. Then he let Lucas come in.

"Lucas... The baby..."

Her lips were very pale, like torn paper. But in one night, the feeling of being broken stung him.

He held her hand and kissed it on the lips.

"Let's stop thinking about this, okay? What do you want to eat? Are you tired? Tell me if you feel uncomfortable."

Ashley felt that it was abnormal for him to avoid the topic of the baby.

She moved and the wound on her belly was hurt. She frowned because of the pain. She had no strength at all. She looked down and could not see the bulging belly. The baby should have been taken out.

Her lips moved and her expression was sad. "Lucas, I had a dream yesterday. I saw my baby. It was a boy. He was so obedient, but... When I wanted to hug him, he waved at me and said goodbye to me."

Speaking of this, tears streamed down her cheeks uncontrollably, and Lucas's eyes became sour. He kissed her and begged her not to think about it anymore.

"Ashley, everything will be fine. I will be with you. Don't think too much, okay?"

Ashley still looked at him, but what he asked made him unable to answer.

"Lucas, tell me. Is there anything wrong with the baby? Why isn't he with me? Tell me!"

She almost roared out the last sentence. It was said that a mother and a son were linked in the heart. She and the child had been one after ten months. Last night, she clearly saw in a daze that the baby was taken out of her belly. How could he disappear?

Ashley's eyes became unfocused and dull. Lucas held her tightly and covered her ears.
