Chapter 34 Collusion

After a big fight in the Jake family last time, Kate rarely went back to the Jake family. She didn't bother to look at his mother and Jessie, nor did she bother to look at the half-dead look of Jake.

She had been drinking and accosting in the bar all day long, and had an idea to find the next target.

In the bathtub where men and women were twisting their waist, Kate was dancing close to a man.

A woman came over, put her hand on her shoulder, and said to the man, "I'm sorry, sir. I may have to borrow your partner."

It was Julia. Her harmless appearance easily won the favor of men.

The man winked at her and said, "Please, beauty."

Kate looked back. She seemed to have seen this woman before, but she was too drunk to remember.

"Who are you?" Kate pushed away Julia's hand impatiently, "Do you want to take me away since we know each other? Don't you think you deserve it?"

Kate held her head high and continued to dance, ignoring Julia.

The music was so loud that Julia knew it was useless to say more. She whispered in Kate's ear, "Ashley."

As expected, the woman's shoulder trembled. She stopped and turned to look at her.

"What do you mean?"

"The person who wants to make Ashley sad is the same as you." Finishing her words, Julia walked towards the booth outside the dancing floor. After hesitating for a while, Kate followed her.

There was not so much noise in the booth. Kate was confused. The more she looked at this woman, the more familiar she became. After thinking for a long time, she remembered that she had seen her on the news when Ashley returned to the Johnson family that day.

"You are from the Johnson family!"

Kate screamed. Wasn't this the substitute of Ashley? No. Technically speaking, she was her sister. Kate licked her dry lips, picked up the wine bottle on the tea table, and poured herself a cup of wine.

"What do you want to say to me? I have nothing to do with her now. It's useless for you to talk to me."

Julia smiled, held her hand, and said, "How could it be useless? You are her best friend. If it weren't for the fact that you couldn't hold your anger and expose your relationship with Jake so early, you might still be using her now. Not everyone has this ability."

It was hard to tell what kind of emotion was in her words. Kate frowned and crossed her legs.

"What do you mean?"

"It doesn't mean anything. Don't get me wrong. I just admire you can get Ashley out of the Jake family in such a short time. You must be not simple. If the two of us work together, it won't be a problem for her to leave Lucas. To be honest, I like him just as you did at that time."

She said frankly, but what she could do was not so. Kate sneered in her heart. It seemed that wherever Ashley went, people would dislike her.

"What benefit can I get from helping you? I just said that it has nothing to do with me now. Why should I get involved in it?"

Julia took out a document, tapped on it, and slowly pushed it towards Kate.

"Let's see if it's good for you first."

Somehow, Kate took it over and opened it. It turned out to be the reward promised by Julia.

She propped her face with one hand. Recently, the Jake family had begun to restrict her consumption. Firstly, her relationship with Jake was not as good as before and they began to deduct money. Secondly, the Jake Group's operation was not as good as that of Ashley. There was a financial problem.

She was indeed short of money now, and she was looking for a new man. If she cooperated with Julia, she could not only revenge on Ashley and get pleasure but also take advantage of this opportunity to enter another circle. What's more, she could also get a good reward. It could be said that killing three birds with one stone.

Kate was tempted and agreed without hesitation, "Okay, what do you think I should do?"

"You just need to lead Ashley to the place I set. You don't need to worry about anything else. I will arrange it. Everything has nothing to do with you. No one knows that you are involved."

How could Kate let go of such a good thing? She believed it. She reached out and shook hands with Julia. "I hope we have a pleasant cooperation!"

"Wish us a pleasant cooperation!"

After returning home, Ashley's situation did not get better. She was still in a state of silence.

Lucas had hired a psychologist to take care of her and comfort her.

"Mrs. Lucas, it's going to rain tomorrow. Look, the birds outside are flying under the eaves."

The psychologist invited by Lucas was his college classmate, called Bruce. He was about the same age as him, with a good look and a famous counselor. He often gave lectures everywhere. This time, it took Lucas a lot of money to invite him home.

"The rain will last for a week. Do you think these birds will stay under the eaves all the time?"

Bruce had a good temper and seldom got angry. Even if it didn't work for so many days, he didn't get angry. He had a gentle smile on his face and was very approachable.

"Of course not. They have to go out to look for food, even if their wings are wet in the heavy rain. Everything will be fine after the rain is over. Although we humans are not as good as these animals, we are the same in some things. I have heard a lot of your legendary stories such as making the Jake group come back to life and marry Mr. Lucas without anything. I think you are not a weak person. Although losing your baby is a big blow to you, you still have to live in the future, don't you? "

As he spoke, he walked to the bedside and opened the window a little wider. Before the storm, the sky outside was clean and bright, and the pressure was a little low. The wind blew in, and the curtains were fluttering.

Ashley still didn't say anything. Her hand on the chair moved slightly as if it had some reaction.

Bruce returned to his seat and showed her a video of the orphanage.

"This is the orphanage you used to live in. Now there are many new faces, and everyone is full of vitality."

Unconsciously, her eyes were attracted by the video. The familiar scene and the familiar venue were the orphanages she had stayed in before.

Her throat moved, and Bruce seemed to see her open her mouth. He waited for her to speak a syllable, but unfortunately, she closed it again.

"Well, it seems that you still don't want to talk today. It's late. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Goodbye, Mrs. Lucas."

He walked out with his stuff. When Ashley heard the door closing, she looked out of the window and opened her mouth to imitate the sound of a bird. Unexpectedly, a bird flew into the window and fell at her feet. It walked back and forth obediently at her feet, flapping its wings from time to time.

When she bent down to touch the bird, it flew away.
