Chapter 29 Being Targeted

Hearing what Freda said, Ghost guessed that there must be something wrong with her mental state.

Ghost looked out of the window and felt a little embarrassed.

But the situation of Freda was special. If they didn't see each other, Ghost couldn't tell what was wrong with her.

After thinking for a while, Ghost agreed to meet Freda.

"No.6, 19th floor, East-Ring Tower." Without giving Freda a chance to talk, Ghost hung up the phone directly after leaving an address.

Freda looked at the phone and thought, "Master seems to be in a hurry?"

Although Freda was a little confused, Ghost was calm and cautious. If there were any problem, he would have told Freda in advance, so Freda didn't think too much.

Freda took a taxi under the tower. As soon as Freda opened the door, a strange feeling rushed over, as if someone was staring at her, and the whole atmosphere was very different.

"Miss? Here you are." The taxi driver saw that Freda was stunned and reminded her.

Freda came to herself and thanked the driver with a smile before getting out of the car slowly.

Looking carefully, Freda found that there were a few strange people downstairs. They didn't seem normal but seemed to be monitoring someone in the building.

Freda didn't know if they were coming for her, but she subconsciously took out a mask from her bag to cover her face. She watched them closely to make sure that they didn't care about her before entering the building.

She went to the 22nd floor vigilantly and slowly walked down.

Freda looked around to make sure that no one was following her. Then she knocked on the door of Ghost's room.

"Knock, knock, knock." This was the secret signal between Freda and Ghost when Freda was young.

The door was opened. If Freda weren't familiar with Ghost, it would be difficult for her to connect the long-bearded man in front of her with her dissolute master.

"Master, what's wrong with you?" The abnormality of Ghost made Freda suspicious.

Ghost waved his hand and didn't answer Freda, but said, "I'm fine. Let's handle your business first."

Freda stretched out her hand to Ghost, and then Ghost held the pulse of Freda tightly with three fingers.

After a while, Ghost asked, "Did you drink?"

Hearing this, Freda giggled and felt guilty.

Since Ghost adopted Freda, he had been very strict with her.

If her master knew that she had not only drunk but also drunk too much, Freda would be punished. So, Freda quickly changed the topic, "Master, what... What's wrong with my uncontrolled mood?"

Ghost glared at Freda and scolded, "Don't change the topic. Are you cutting the apron strings?"

"No, no, no! Master, I, I didn't mean to..."

"Who else can force you?" Ghost didn't believe Freda's nonsense.

"No, I didn't..."

"Humph!" Ghost sneered, ignored her, and continued to feel her pulse.

Knowing that she was doomed, Freda sat on the sofa quietly and didn't dare to say a word.

Ghost ignored her and felt her pulse for a long time. Then she looked around her master's new residence.

It was a traditional rental house, but the house was livelier as if Ghost had just been moved in.

"What are you looking at?"

Ghost no longer felt her pulse, but stood up and took out a bag of things from the room.

"Master, have you just moved in?"

Ghost nodded, "You are right."

In the past, Ghost haunted and never had a fixed residence. To ensure Freda's learning, he forced himself to live in England with her. When Freda grew up, he would completely live it up.

It was more difficult for Freda to find him in ordinary times.

So when Freda heard that Ghost had just moved here, she couldn't hide her excitement and said happily, "Master, do you want to live here for a long time?"

"Mind your own business. It has nothing to do with you if I live here or not. You can't live with me anyway."

"Why are you so fierce now?"

"It's not easy for me to raise you in such a fierce way."

"Poof!" Freda almost burst into laughter, but she stopped after being stared at by Ghost again.

Ghost took out the silver needles from his bag and said, "Sit down. You are so worried that you think too much all day long."

After saying that, Ghost stabbed the needles into the head and palm of Freda.

After the soreness and numbness, Freda became conscious, and even her sense of chaos and restlessness were swept away.

The confusion in Freda's eyes was gone.

"Get up and go back." Ghost asked Freda to leave as if it would bring him some trouble if Freda stayed here.

Reluctant to leave, Freda held Ghost's arm and said softly, "Master, I haven't seen you for a long time. Please let me stay a little longer."

Ghost had always been indifferent, but he just liked what Freda did. Freda had been acting like a spoiled child when she wanted something since childhood, and now she still used this trick. Freda had tried it and succeeded many times, which made Ghost unhappy.

"You know how to cope with me." Ghost was both dissatisfied and helpless.

Knowing that Ghost had agreed, Freda happily went into the kitchen of the house and planned to cook a big meal for her master.

But when Freda opened the fridge, she was stunned.

The fridge was empty, and there was even a faint smell. It was obvious that it had not been used for a long time.

As the person in charge of the dark net, Freda was naturally very sensitive to some things.

For example, the newly-moved-in house, the empty fridge, the monitoring downstairs, and the phone hang up in a hurry.

Everything was wrong.

"Master, someone is watching you downstairs, right?" Freda walked out of the kitchen and said in a serious tone.

Seeing that he couldn't hide it from her, Ghost said, "He is not a bad guy."

But it was out of Freda's control. She wanted to leave with Ghost.

"Let go of me! Why are you so impudent now?" Ghost shook off Freda's hand and said, "I've told you that he is not a bad guy. He wants my help. Don't be so nervous."

It was easy for Ghost to say that, but Freda was nervous. Although she called Ghost master, he was already like her father.

Now that he was targeted, how could Freda just sit by and watch?

"If it was for your help, why are there people monitoring you? I don't care. You have to go with me today." Said Freda stubbornly.

Ghost was amused by her nervous look. He patted the hand of Freda and said gently, "I'm really fine. That man wants to see a doctor. I'm still thinking about whether to be out of retirement."

Seeing that there was no problem with Ghost, Freda withdrew her hand.

"If you have any trouble, please contact me as soon as possible!"

Knowing that Ghost was more stubborn than her, Freda couldn't say anything more, so she could only believe it temporarily.

But Freda had decided to investigate the background of these people when she went back!
