8 (final)

It was hitting me. I am going to die. My throat is breaking. I am shattering like glass. My head dragged against the floor and propped up against the wall. My hearing was gone. My vision was highlighted red with a morphed static. A black cloth fell onto my chest. The pain in my chest went away. My vision went black. It was silent.

Huh. This must be death.

Something in the distance was tapping. It was far away in the void in front of me. Or it was to my left. My head threw itself with the last of its strength to find the source. No wait, it is to my right. And under me, or is it just my ears? No wait, I have heard this noise before.

Huh… I must be breathing.

There I was, looking at the door on my red floor. The wall was red too. Shadowy shapes as black as the void I woke up from, stood randomly in my room. Bones in my face and neck had to be broken, no doubt about it. I still could not hear anything, but I was sure the red on the wall was not my vision. That was real, there was a red light illuminating my room. I slid to my knees. Everything hurt, but I did not care.

I must run. I must get away from that monster.

I got onto one knee. I had to use the wall to pull myself up. Every inch I rose I remembered what had happened. How that creature ran at me, how that monster slammed my face and broke my nose, how that beast strangled me halfway to death. I managed to get to my feet. A bunch of pops came from my knees as well as a crack from the floor behind me. I jumped and turned with panic and adrenaline. A figure stood back behind me. I tumbled to the stairs, losing all my composer. I stared back into the room to see the back of the monster.

He is not chasing me. Does he know I woke up?

That is when I heard crying. He was crying.

I do not care. You are dead to me. I need to leave-

But the light from my window was so beautiful. I had to stare at it a bit longer.

I cannot get a beautiful view from here.

I walked back up the stairs and back into the room. A humming noise filled my ears like an opera song. I walked over the busted door and over the splinters of wood. The sticks stuck into my feet, but I did not care. The whispers told me to keep moving.

The window was so close but this mass of meat was in my way. I shoved him over with a forceful push and he fell into the void below.

Wait, where did the floor go? Wait, where did my room go?

The only thing ahead was my body and the window. I was behind me. I was not me anymore. He kept walking as I could not move a muscle.

This is dangerous. He needs to get away from that window.

I went to scream at myself but nothing came out. I tried again. Nothing. He approached the window and stared into the red glare. Another figure came from the darkness. A tall woman wearing a white robe.

The robe was silky and glittering. The dark skin of the woman had also glittered even though the room was completely black. Her hands and feet were so clean unlike mine. Her eyes were so wide and blue. An entire ocean must have been consumed by her pupils being the most spectacular eyes I have ever laid mine on.

Two massive, feathered wings spread open from her shoulders. Each feather had a golden outline. Her wings spread to be at least 100 feet wide, yet her eyes never left mine. She flew down to him. Her feet landed gracefully onto a puddle of space. She reached a hand out to my empty husk ahead.

I am so jealous, that should be me. I wish she would grasp my face. I want her to rip my eyes out. I want her to sing hums into my ears.

A sound filled the void. It was squishing like someone had stepped into mud or dropped a container of sauce had fallen to the ground. Her hand vanished into his face. The husk's head rocked back and forth. I walked toward the body out of curiosity. It was so simple to move now. Each step was so light. My bones had not felt broken anymore nor was my leg bruised.

I want to see her; I want her to grasp my eyes in her beautiful hands.

I walked in front of his body and he stood reactionless. She was so tall compared to me. Her bony smile filled my heart with heat. Her arm reached over to the face of the husk. Unlike her, my smile did not last. Her fingers were missing. They were replacing the eyes of my former body, digging around within its skull.

My former body smiled wide. I shook as my vision faded away. Only colors of the husk were left. The sound of shuffling and squishing took over my ear drums along with ringing.

"The angels. They are so beautiful."
