Courage

When Luckas and Byrth came back, the villagers were preparing to move to their new homes. The reallocation would start tomorrow, everyone was hopeful of their new future. Some of the villagers took their money and decided to try their luck in another city,

-" When you finish moving to the new village and I have free time I go will visit." Byrth was always bad with emotional things so his goodbyes with his uncle were a little awkward.

Jothyr naturally didn't oppose Byrth joining Jeffrey as his squire, while he was saddened about his last kin leaving him, he felt happy for his nephew.

-" Don't worry, you need to serve the Sir well, this is your chance. Oh, and try to make friends too, you're young and should appreciate life, and don't forget to bring Luckas there if possible." Jothyr spoke feeling proud of his nephew's new position.

-" Hahaha, if it wasn't for the bad news about Luckas companions I would invite you all to commemorate, having someone of our village as the squire of a Dukes son, in the future, you will surely help our village:" Ballam to the side was euphoric, like a good peddler he was already thinking about the advantages he could get in having a close relationship with Byrth.

-" Tchk, I hate to agree with his old fool, but, Byrth now you have the chance of helping us all in the village. I don't want to pressure you, after all, I know how hardworking you are —" Before Jothyr could finish Byrth interrupted him.

-" I know Uncle, I should do my best, don't worry, I will not disappoint you or Sir Jeffrey." Byrth spoke firmly, Jothyr felt that he was too mature for his own good.

After speaking about his future job a little more they reached the conversation about Luckas.

-" Hey Byrth are you going with Luckas to identify the convoy?" Maria who was beside him asked. When the group heard about the supposed fate of his companions everyone was worried about him.

-" I did ask him if I should accompany him, but he said that it was better for him to go alone."

-" Byrth, you should give Luckas some space, it's better to let him do this himself, of course, you should try to cheer him up after but it's better to let him confront this alone." Jothyr could imagine how Luckas was feeling, he too lost most of his friends and kin during hard times, he knew that Luckas know needed space and time for settling his emotion.

After receiving the technique Luckas decided to look for a quiet place to read it, the army pavilion where the villagers were staying was too crowded and noisy, he walked around for some time and didn't find any suitable place, so he decided to go to an inn.

-" Good Morning. how much is the stay with breakfast?" Luckas tried his best to give a good impression.

-" 10 coppers each day for a normal room, the breakfast is already included, but it isn't much food." A small man at the other side of the counter spoke.

Luckas nodded and took a silver coin and passed it to the man. The low price surprised Luckas, he had gained 1 gold coin from Jeffrey. it looked like he didn't need to worry about money for some time.

-" I will pay my stay for ten days now, maybe I will extend it, so please take care of me." Luckas bowed as he arranged his stay.

The small man nodded, he liked how politely Luckas was, most of the people who came to his in were hunters and adventures, so being courteous and polite weren't their strong points

-" Luisa can you take him to a room?" AS the man yelled and soon a woman came and took Luckas to room.

As Luckas didn't have any baggage he instantly focused on reading the books he gained, he decide to rent a room because soon the villagers would depart and he would need a new place to stay, Luckas first thought about leaving the territory soon as possible, but he lacked information about this world and he was kinda attached to Byrth and the rest.

He was feeling hesitant, he didn't want to join the army as he didn't know if he would fit in there, plus his backstory caused quite a bit of headache, he even thought of coming clean to Jeffrey about his lies, after all, he thought the noble was kind and generous, but, he was afraid of Byrth and the group reaction.

After reading for a bit, Luckas closed his eyes and tried to sense the QI around him with the breathing exercise he learned. Minutes passed and nothing came, Luckas couldn't focus as the current situation made him nervous.

-" Sigh, I really should talk with Jeffrey and Cyl first, if I come clean maybe they wouldn't care about my background." Luckas decided to use the meeting with Cyl to explain himself.

Even if they take offense to his lies they wouldn't punish him if admitted to it before being exposed, taking this weight off his mind he focused on reading the other book.

The book explained the fundamentals of cultivation, how Qi gathered and the Qi circulated the body through the body channels and passed the meridian to the dantian.

The transformation of the dantian that Byrth told him happened when a Qi cultivator opened all twelves of his primary meridians. Luckas was confused, from what he read there were ten levels in the Qi gathering realm, but there were twelve meridians to open.

He continued to read and learned that the cultivator only started opening his meridians on the 6th level, and their opening sequence was influenced by the cultivation technique.

Luckas was completely immersed in reading, he thought about going back to stay the last day of villagers with the group, but, when he finally stopped reading it was already late at night so he decided to sleep in his room and go see them in the morning.
