The Book

Later that night, Da-eun wandered around the palace trying to find a way to escape the world and maybe even give the real Joseon-era Da-eun her body back.

She decided to go to the rose garden. Her transportation was connected to a rose, after all. As she walked, suddenly, a hand cupped her mouth. She squirmed and was shocked. Why does this seem familiar? The man dragged her to a secret room underneath the garden. It was dark and dreary. He immediately removed his hand as they entered the room.

"What are you doing?! Wait, Prince Jeong-yook?" Da-eun exclaimed.

"I know you're not the real Da-eun."

"What do you mean?" Da-eun chuckled nervously.

"We need to talk. A clandestine group of enchanters existed thousands of years ago who were capable of casting spells after studying the instructions of a legendary entity. They were discovered not long after the organization was established. Havoc swept the entire nation. They had to cease teaching as a result. Yet, they persisted in secrecy, and the number of members fell each year," The prince stated.

"What are you on about?"

"The fact is, I am a part of that organization. They taught me what I now know. Learning how individuals can pass through various bodies and travel across time is a component of those teachings. I'm aware you are not Da-eun. You just have that aura, that much I can tell." he said.

"Fine. You've caught me. What's it to you?"

"My mother has been nagging me to marry a noble. Of course, this is in relation to the concubine selection. It will happen after my coronation. I want you to become my concubine for practical reasons. It's perfect! I need a sensible concubine, and you need to get back to your timeline- which I can help with. Just be my concubine until you get back to your timeline," he explained.

"How could I possibly be chosen as a concubine? I can tell that I'm not a poised or refined person." Da-eun replied.

"The only girl who would not fawn over me, but instead be practical and sensible, is you, and I will even hire someone to train you," he said, vowing to do whatever it takes to make Da-eun his concubine. "Come now, I must show you the Book."

"The book?"

"Yes, the Book."

Da-eun followed him to another room.

"Why is it so damn dusty here?" she coughed. The prince opened the book with a huge release of dust.

"Look here. It says 'One may travel back to their old body by finding Symphony. One shall then allow Symphony to enter their body by means of cutting a slit on their leg, arm, or neck. Then, they must die again.' Hold on, so you have to commit suicide, is what it's saying?" The prince said.

"It's alright. I will do anything to get my body back. Anything."
